It has been announced that Questlove and Mick Jagger are producing a four-part docuseries about the Godfather of Soul himself, James Brown. The series is being produced for A&E and is set for a 2023 release.
The cable network has ordered James Brown: Say It Loud, directed by The Legacy of Black Wall Street helmer Deborah Riley Draper.
The upcoming film is the latest doc on James Brown after Alex Gibney directed Mr. Dynamite: The Rise of James Brown for HBO in 2014. Jagger was also a producer on that project.
James Brown: Say It Loud is set for a 2023 release, marking what would have been Brown’s 90th birthday. It will explore the musician's legacy with interviews with friends, family, collaborators, and proteges as well as his beloved music catalog and never-been-seen-before archival footage of the rockstar.
