Memphis is home to such prestigious museums as The Stax Museum of American Soul Music, Elvis Presley's Graceland, and The Blues Hall of Fame, all of which generate millions of dollars annually. Hip-Hop could very well be next in line, according to the Shelby County Commissioner, Mickell Lowery who says that the county is presently working with a California consulting firm to study the feasibility of a Hip-Hop Museum in the city.

EightBall & MJG, Three 6 Mafia, Glorilla, Young Dolph, Yo Gotti, and Moneybagg Yo are just a few of the legendary Hip-Hop artists who call Memphis home. Artemis “Peppa” Williams, former Three 6 Mafia manager says that Memphis hasn’t always had love for Hip-Hop, and calls the current moves "an about face".

“Believe it or not, Memphis does get the recognition, but the City of Memphis doesn’t recognize Hip-Hop, and that’s sad to say,” according to Williams. “I remember 20-plus years ago when I was managing Three 6 Mafia, the city council turned us down for a key to the city, like it was like the worst thing in the world. Every other city in the United States has endorsed and embraced hip-hop; I think it’s most definitely a great thing that they are considering it, and I think it should be a no brainer.”
