One-on-one breaking competition, Red Bull BC One, revealed the U.S. line-up for its regional qualifiers and the return of the Red Bull BC One All Star Tour today (July 13). The regional qualifiers (or cyphers) will feature battles between the best b-boys and b-girls in the country, all while building community and offering mentorship opportunities.

The regional cyphers will feature 16 b-boys and b-girls competing in a 1-on-1 battle with a knockout bracket format. Established breakers from each region will serve as judges to determine who makes it to the Red Bull BC One National Final in Los Angeles.  This year, the program expanded to include pre-qualifying city cyphers, which gave breakers of all levels an opportunity to compete, connect, and hone their skills.

“As a breaker with a year and a half of experience, it was surreal to win a Red Bull cypher and it allowed me to recognize my potential and skills," Las Vegas-based emerging b-girl, Jeyna Ponce said in a statement about the event, where she claimed runner up in the San Diego competition. She also won the city cypher in her hometown. "Both events introduced me to a supportive community that has helped me grow my knowledge and expertise. I look forward to showcasing my love for this dance while representing my crew Battle Born, my city Las Vegas, and the females of breaking.”

The competition, which celebrates the athleticism of breakers and the art form's tremendous contribution to Hip-Hop, will host the Red Bull BC One World Final in New York, the birthplace of breaking, this November.
