Will Smith Is Still Making $35 Million a Movie

In case you were wondering, yes, Will Smith is still one of the highest-paid actors in Hollywood. Variety recently detailed actors' salaries, spotlighting how much big-time stars like Tom Cruise, Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, and Dwanye Johnson make per film.

While movie theaters struggled to bring in revenue during the pandemic, streaming picked up and actors' salaries managed not to suffer. Prominent examples of actors still raking in big bucks via streaming include DiCaprio, who will make $30 million to re-team with Martin Scorsese on the historical drama Killers of the Flower Moon (set to stream on Apple); Brad Pitt, who's set to star in Formula One drama (which is still yet to be titled and will debut on Apple); and Smith, who'll appear in the anticipated escaped-slave thriller, Emancipation, which will also be featured on the streaming service.

Variety broke down actors' salaries per recent flick, and while Tom Cruise claimed the top spot at $100 million because he took a lower salary in exchange for a "significant percentage of the first-dollar gross" of his latest blockbuster, Top Gun: Maverick, Smith claimed the second spot at $35 million, putting him $5 million ahead of DiCaprio and Pitt, who tied for second place at $30 million per film.
