A new posthumous Aaliyah track has been released. Blackground Records 2.0/Empire has dropped “Poison,” a new song featuring The Weeknd. The song is being presented as the first taste of an upcoming posthumous album featuring reportedly new material from Aaliyah.

“I’m so excited to share this new song by Aaliyah and the very talented The Weeknd,” Barry Hankerson, founder of Blackground Records, said. “I wanted her adoring fans to get a special gift before the holidays and felt it was the perfect time to release a never-before-heard offering.”

The late singer died in 2001 at the age of 22 in a plane crash, and is still one of the most beloved artists in popular music. Her catalog finally returned to streaming earlier this year, and "Poison" is the first new release featuring Aaliyah since Drake's 2012 track "Enough Said."
