California producer, The Alchemist, has been unstoppable this past year, arguably earning his spot as the busiest producer in the game as he dropped eight collaboration albums in 2021, being recruited by emcees like Boldy James, Curren$y, and Armand Hammer for their projects.
The most recent artist to team up with the, “Hold You Down,” producer is the iconic Queens emcee and frequent collaborator, Kool G Rap, for “Diesel,” as part of The Alchemist’s Craft Singles series.
The Alchemist lays down the canvas, with his signature laid back soul sample production, as Kool G Rap paints pictures romanticizing street life, making for an atmospheric gangsta rap record, as G Rap spits effortlessly at the top of his game.
The pair have worked with each other multiple times over the years, back in Alchemist's early Mobb Deep days for their 1999 track, "The Realest" and more recently for tracks like "ALC Theme" and "Problems."
It seems like The Alchemist will have another promising year ahead of him. Conway the Machine recently announced that he and the California beatmaker have a collaboration project on the way after dropping his Shady Records debut, God Don’t Make Mistakes. “It’s gonna be a big year for the machine. Big year, hopefully. God Willing,” Conway the Machine said in an interview with Hip-Hop-N-More.
The Alchemist also announced he and his frequent collaborator, Earl Sweatshirt, have some music in the vault. The two just ended their NBA Leather tour along with Action Bronson and Boldly James.
