On Sunday (April 3), T-Pain took to Twitter to clear the air on some commonly misheard lyrics to his 2005 hit record “I’m Sprung,” after some fan confusion on the internet.
“How in God’s name do ppl hear ‘out to get me’ on ‘I’m Sprung?!'” T-Pain wrote. “It drives me crazy! It’s ‘Dog she got me’…. How are you hearing the other thing at all?!”
He added, “How are you even hearing ‘get’ over ‘got’ I just can’t think of a way to hear that,” before concluding that fans should, “Plz go listen to the song with this new information. It’s like watching an old movie as an adult and finally understanding all the sex jokes.”
“I’m Sprung” was T-Pain’s first-ever single and appeared on his debut record Rapper Ternt Sanga, which peaked at No. 33 on the Billboard 200 and was eventually certified gold by the RIAA. The track itself broke into the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at No. 3, and was later certified platinum.
