Snoop Dogg to Produce and Star in Football Comedy 'The Underdoggs'

Snoop Dogg is set to star and produce in a new football comedy, The Underdoggs. Snoop will produce the project under Death Row Pictures, and Kenya Barris (Black-ish) will co-produce the film while Charles Stone III (Drum Line) is set to direct the project.

The film, which is based on a concept created by Snoop, will tell the story of Jaycen Jenning “2J’s” (played by Snoop), an ex-NFL player who gets in trouble with the law and agrees to coach a youth football to avoid jail time and hopefully revive his career.

The Underdoggs is a real personal project for me considering that I’ve been coaching football for 15+ years with the Snoop Youth Football League that I started with my long-time business partner Constance Schwartz-Morini," Snoop said in a statement. "Giving back to the community through football has taught us so many invaluable life lessons that we’ve been able to share with kids in similar situations like mine when I was growing up. My hope is that this movie will shed light on the realities that kids and adults face in the hood and within the complex world of football."

Before he hits the field, Snoop will hunt vampires with Jamie Foxx in the new action-comedy, Day Shift, which drops on Netflix on Aug. 12.
