Showtime has announced that Cypress Hill: Insane in The Brain and Bushwick Bill: Geto Boy documentaries will be premiering this on its television network in April as part of their joint venture with deal Mass Appeal for the network’s “Hip-Hop 50” series.

B-Real announced that The Cypress Hill: Insane in The Brain documentary will explore the career and influence of the iconic California hip-hop group, and Bushwick Bill: Geto Boy will chronicle the life and career of the late Geto Boys member Bushwick Bill and his and the band's activism against censorship in the 1990s.  

West Coast veterans, Cypress Hill, are nothing short of legendary. Dropping nine studio albums throughout their prolific career, B-Real, Sen Dog, DJ Muggs, and Eric Bobo have carved themselves into hip-hop royalty, becoming the first hip-hop group ever to sell multi-platinum albums selling 20 million copies worldwide.

Bushwick Bill, along with Scarface and Willie D, formed The Geto Boys, putting Houston, Texas on the map as they pioneered what would later be called “horrorcore” with their creepy imagery, stage antics, and psychological horror in their songs, including their opus “Mind Playing Tricks On Me.” Releasing their debut album, 1989’s Grip It! On That Other Level, on Rap-A-lot Records, the trio would go on to become multi-platinum pioneers. Sadly in 2019, the group lost the iconic Bushwick Bill to pancreatic cancer, effectively forcing the end of The Geto Boys as we know it.

Cypress Hill: Insane in The Brain will premiere on Showtime Wednesday, April 20, and Bushwick Bill: Geto Boy will premiere on Friday, April 29
