Houston legend Scarface announced today (5/17) The Farewell Tour, a 32-city tour that the Geto Boys legend promises will be his last. The tour kicks off July 8 in Oakland, CA; and ends August 27 in Odessa, TX; with stops in New York, Los Angeles, Denver, CO and Birmingham, AL. The August 6 stop of the tour at LL COOL J’s Rock The Bells Festival in Queens, N.Y. marks the 20th anniversary of Face’s 2002 album, The Fix. Throughout the tour, Face will be backed by his band Formaldehyde Funkmen.
As a member of Rap A Lot Records’ breakout act Geto Boys; Scarface (also known as DJ Akshun) contributed to the hits “Scarface”, “My Minds Playin’ Tricks On Me”, “Gangsta (Put Me Down)”, “Mind of A Lunatic” and “Damn It Feels Good 2 Be A Gangsta." In 1991, Face released his first solo album, the critically acclaimed Mr. Scarface Is Back. Face released nearly a dozen solo albums including The Diary, Last of A Dying Breed and The Fix. The rapper born Brad Jordan is regarded as one best story telling MCs in the genre, influencing UGK, Killer Mike, Jay–Z and The Notorious B.I.G., among others.
