Pusha T Reveals Nas Was Supposed to Be on "Hear Me Clearly"

Pusha T’s latest release, It’s Almost Dry, is already one of this year's most highly acclaimed Hip-Hop projects this year by both fans and critics alike. The album boasts many highlight moments from Hip-Hop greats, old and new, with features from Kanye West, JAY-Z, Pharell Williams, MALICE, Kid Cudi, and more. However, there was one timeless rap titan that unfortunately did not make the cut.

During a recent Spotify Live session hosted by veteran Hip-Hop journalist Brian “B. Dot” Miller, Pusha T revealed that Nas was originally supposed to record a verse for the album’s Pharrell Williams-produced track, “Hear Me Clearly,” which also appeared on NIGO’s compilation album earlier this year.

“Man, listen. It was always the plan to keep ‘Hear Me Clearly.’ But the surprise was gonna be, Nas was gonna be on my last verse of ‘Hear Me Clearly,’” Push revealed. When asked what happened to the verse, Push admits he had no idea why the collaboration fell through. “I don’t know, man. It pisses me off. It was my biggest regret for the album.”

“I sent it to him early. When ‘Hear Me Clearly’ was just one verse. I  had been waiting on it. Then I bumped into him right before the album dropped. I was like, ‘Listen: I’ll hold this shit up. Can you just do this, please?” Push explained. “I wanted that. Like, I wanted that,” he emphasized.

Pusha T recently announced the first phase of his It’s Almost Dry Tour with Special Guests. The tour is set to kick off on May 28 in Las Vegas and ends on August 19 at the All Points East Festival in London.
