"You are from 77 dell ave Mt.Vernon NY," Pete wrote on Instagram. "[I] know everything about you but [I] wouldnt call myself puff daddy when [I'm] THE REAL CHOCOLATE BOY WUNDA BOSS."
The acclaimed producer/DJ/emcee (and half of the celebrated group Pete Rock & CL Smooth) has used the "Chocolate Boy Wonder" moniker for years and is widely considered to be among the best Hip-Hop producers of all time, influencing everyone from J.Dilla to No I.D. He's worked with numerous artists spanning generations including Run D.M.C., Common, Raekwon, Heavy D, and more. Pete went on to cap off his feelings about Diddy's use of the phrase by pointing out his rap legacy.
"You wanna be the chocboywunda you gotta pay for it FOH@diddyWhat are you doing bro?" Pete wrote. "Smfh this is so corny lol. Wow! [I'm] minding my business and doing what I gotta do for the culture of hip hop music. [I'm] still here by the grace of god."
On Twitter he emphasized that "chocolate boy wunda" is copywritten.
"[It's] copy written. We are nothing alike but puffy you cant erase what I have done or try to take my name lol. [I'm] flattered tho but cmon man what you doing this for? Everyone in hip hop knows who the chocolate boy wunda is why you playin?
