Legendary producer Pete Rock and Canibus’s manager M80’s war of words has escalated to threats of a lawsuit. The nature of the disagreement is the latest Canibus release, titled C, which is promoted as a Pete Rock production. On Monday (May 16) Pete Rock blasted the promotion as false.

“I WOULD NEVER EVER EVER NEVER EVER PRODUCE SOMETHING THAT SOUNDS THIS BAD OMG," Rock tweeted. "THIS IS A THRISTY MOVE BY CANIBUS PEOPLE BUT HE DON’T SOUND GOOD ON IT. WTF. Y’all gotta stop being so thirst and disrespectful man. This is how you keep running in the mud. This is super trash.”

"People don't care when other people lose respect for them," Pete said further. "Oh well. 2nd round knockout is your legacy but doing this right here sealed your fate with me."

M80 replied with several "receipts", in the form of bank receipts, production sign-offs and guest artist sign-offs. 80 also provided screenshots that he says are between he and Pete. Pete Rock denies the authenticity of 80's documents. Meanwhile, 80 told AllHipHop.com that Canibus has no beef at all.

"He said that he finds it funny," he explained. "But does not involve himself in any of this nonsense."

"None of this is gonna exist to me in the next five minutes," Pete Rock wrote; to which 80 responded, "This lawsuit is going to exist for you for well over five minutes. Thank you for playing yourself and disrespecting @DaRealCanibus in the process after you were paid for your work."

80 then provides a screenshot with a Chase bank account number. "I don't even bank with Chase," Pete replied.

80 threatened to serve Pete with a libel and defamation. Canibus remains quiet on the issue.
