Nipsey Hussle received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame today (Aug. 15), and during the ceremony, Los Angeles City Councilman Marqueece Harris-Dawson announced that from here on out, it will be celebrated as "Nipsey Hussle Day" in L.A.
Harris-Dawson also led a ceremony at the new Metro Hyde Park train station, which was dedicated to the rapper. "From Slauson all the way to Vernon you will see world class pieces of art celebrating the history and legacy of African American people," Harris-Dawson said.
Today would've been the rapper's 37th birthday, and his sister, father, and grandmother were all hand during the Walk of Fame Ceremony, as were fellow Compton rappers YG and Roddy Rich, NBA stars Isiah Thomoas, Russell Westbrook, and his All Money In artists. Nipsey's life partner, actress Lauren London, spoke at the event.
“Nip would’ve been honored by this moment," she said.
