Donald Glover’s dark-comedy series Atlanta has been announced for its third season to be released on March 24, 2022, after four years. This season finds our main characters Earn and Paper Boi on an international tour in Europe as they navigate the usual shenanigans of their everyday lives.
The second trailer for the third season was released on Christmas Day during ESPN and ABC’s airing of NBA games.
“Season three finds Earn (Glover), Alfred/Paper Boi, Darius (LaKeith Stanfield), and Van (Zazie Beetz) in the midst of a successful European tour,” explains the official synopsis from FX. “The group navigate their new surroundings as outsiders, and struggle to adjust to the newfound success they had aspired to.”
The new season of Atlanta first got the green light in 2018, but has been delayed due to Glover’s schedule and COVID restrictions. In 2019, he directed and acted in the Rihanna-starring Guava Island and voiced Simba in Disney’s computer-animated remake of The Lion King. In 2020, he released his fourth Childish Gambino album, 3.15.20.
