On Wednesday (7/27) Meek Mill posted to IG that he will release ten independent tapes starting in September. The "Dreams And Nightmares" rapper posted: "10 tapes independently starting September... new music dropping AUGUST 18 the day my dad died is when I start wylinnnnnn again! I'm not dropping albums on Friday either." ROCK THE BELLS reported earlier this year that Meek reportedly parted ways with Roc Nation Management. He expressed his frustration with his record label; Atlantic Records after Expensive Pain debuted at number 3 on the Billboard 200. Meek signed with Roc Nation in 2012 and in 2019 he secured a joint venture deal for his Dreamchasers imprint.

When his name was absent from the Roc Nation website back in February the public speculated that Meek had ended his association with the company that also manages Westside Gunn,Benny The Butcher, Alicia Keyes, Rihanna, Jadakiss, and Fat Joe. Meek confirmed his separation from Roc Nation posting: "All I seen today was meek and roc part ways …I’m personally handling my own business so I can take risk and grow ..we came to that agreement together..I have a label deal with roc for my artist and I got reform super tied with them and many other investments wit jigga." He doubled down on his independence posting to IG: "Fuck it ima take the risk … a million behind every project! All sponsors connected to me or my brand tap in immediately I need y’all for this riskkkk ima take! #NOMAJORLABELVIBES."
