MC Serch revealed to AllHipHop that he is selling 100 percent of his stake in Nas' catalog of music, including the Queens rapper's first two albums Illmatic and It Was Written, which Serch executive produced. The rapper-turned-exec launched Serchlight Music after moving away from recording.

"I have decided to sell all of the rights, including the global rights," Serch shared. "I started conversations with several companies a few months ago. For 27 years, it has provided my family through good times and bad. Now it's time for a new chapter."

The former 3rd Bass rapper said that he estimated that both projects are streamed at least 250 million times a year.

Widely regarded as Nas' best work, Illmatic is part of the Library of Congress archives, along with songs by artists like Grandmaster Flash & The Furious 5 and Salt-N-Pepa. Additionally, Nas has performed the entire album live with National Symphony Orchestra. The more polished It Was Written produced the radio-friendly hits "If I Ruled The World" and "Street Dreams" and debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart back in 1996.

Serch joins producer Marley Marl, the estate of producer Larry Smith and Public Enemy front man Chuck D in a growing number of Hip-Hop artists and executives who are selling stakes in their catalog ownership. The sale is being represented by Richard Blackstone, Roger Miller and Stephen S. Sidman. Serch has reportedly not settled on a buyer yet, but is confident that he will find one quickly.
