Master P opened up about his family legacy, his upbringing and a plethora of other personal matters when he sat down with TV One’s Uncensored recently. P also spoke to Black Enterprise recently about the Uncensored episode.

“I think you’re going to learn a lot more in detail. From me growing up in a Catholic school...," shared. "To me being an altar boy, and be able to understand who God is.”

P credits his Grandparents with making him the man that he is today. “My Grandfather was in the military, and then he ended up baking foods and starting his own business,” P said. When speaking of his early exposure to entrepreneurship P states that “[his Grandfather] just motivated me to get out and be who I am and see that if he could do this, in the conditions that we live in, then I could do it too.”

Master P told Hip Hop DX in a recent interview that he almost took a different route growing up in New Orleans’ Calliope projects where gangs and drugs were prevalent.

“Looking at what other people are going through, you start seeing yourself, knowing that one day this could be you, watching so many young people around me die,” P said. “I think a lot of young people get caught in the crowd. That’s why I go back to the lion again. When you think like a lion you don’t have to be a follower. You could be a leader because a lion can lead sheep to the promised land, but a sheep could never lead a lion.”

P attributes the recent deaths of so many young rappers to a lack of leadership and accountability. “Think about it. It's because of the drugs and people not being held accountable. We always say ‘Oh he’s young, she’s young. They will figure it out, let them go’, but everybody don’t figure it out. You’re either gonna be a tragedy or a testimony.”

When speaking of his No Limit Records P says that No Limit is now a University that promotes economic empowerment. Master P started No Limit with $10,000 that he received as part of a malpractice settlement after the death of his Grandfather. No Limit at one time was the home of giants such as Mystikal, Mia X, Tru, Snoop Dogg and Master P himself.
