In the first public acknowledgment of Trugoy's passing by a group member, Maseo of De La Soul posted to IG on Monday (2/20) to mourn his friend and bandmate who passed on February 12 at age 54.

Maseo posted a rare picture of the group signing their Tommy Boy Recording contract alongside their producer and labelmate Prince Paul, Tommy Boy CEO Tom Silverman and the label's president Monica Lynch. The caption on the post read, "This is the day we signed our contract with Tommy Boy. Much love and respect to Monica Lynch."

Maseo also posted a picture of his De La Soul medallion with the caption "Since 1988". Common, Busta Rhymes, Nas, Diamond D and Pharrell have all paid tribute to Trugoy in the days following his passing.
