The 30-year anniversary of Steve Rifkind's influential label Loud Records was celebrated at the 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards. David Banner, Wu-Tang Clan, Havoc of Mobb Deep, Lil Kim, dead prez, Remy Ma, Fat Joe, Three Six Mafia, Lil Flip, Project Pat, and M.O.P. showed up to honor the label with performances.
dead prez opened the set with a performance of their landmark track with the immediately recognizable bassline, “Hip-Hop.” Joey Bada$$ joined Lil Kim and Havoc for their performance of Mobb Deep’s “Quiet Storm” [Remix], which was followed by M.O.P.’s 2000 Hip-Hop anthem, “Ante Up" — they were joined by Remy Ma, who rapped her verse to the remix. Remy led the crowd in Big Pun’s “Boricua, morena,” chant from “Still Not a Player” before segueing into “Lean Back” with Fat Joe.
Memphis legend Project Pat ran through his classic track "Chickenhead" and David Banner was joined by Lil Flip for their 2003 hit “Like a Pimp." DJ Paul and Juicy J then took the stage for their performance of Three Six Mafia’s “Stay Fly" (though Eightball & MJG were notably absent).
Wu-Tang Clan closed out the set with Method Man, RZA, Inspectah Deck, and Raekwon paying homage to Ol' Dirty Bastard while his intro to “C.R.E.A.M.” played.
