On Saturday (May 28), R&B legend Anita Baker played the Venetian theatre in Las Vegas as part of her return to the stage. During her set, the songstress pointed out Chance The Rapper in the audience and took a moment to praise the Chicago rap star.

“Would you guys say hello to a friend of mine, by way of the music industry," Baker requested, before adding, "And by way of helping me get a hold and ownership of my master recordings.”

She then announced that "Mr. Chance The Rapper is right there.” And after the show, Chance tweeted: "I saw one of THE greatest performances of my LIFETIME last night! Thank You so much @IAMANITABAKER for being an inspiration and an icon to so many of US."

Baker was involved in a battle with her former label Elektra Records for control of her masters in 2021. She'd instructed fans not to stream her music until the issues were settled. The icon's return to performing has been welcomed, following Baker announcing her retirement last year. Lil Wayne was also in attendance and received a shout out from the singer.

"I'd like to thank you for all of your support," Baker said, as Wayne stood and bowed. "I appreciate you so much."

Anita Baker has teased that she may release new music soon after signing a new record deal with Rhino Records. "The industry is knocking at our door....a little bidding war," she tweeted earlier this month; noting that AEG and Live Nation have both reached out to offer tour support.
