Kanye West Sued for Unauthorized Boogie Down Productions Sample

When it rains it pours for the artist formerly known as Kanye West. Ye is being sued for the unauthorized sampling of "South Bronx" by Boogie Down Productions.

The company which owns the rights to the recording filed the suit claiming that last year's "Life Of The Party" featuring Andre 3000 from Donda contains the sample. According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, Kanye uploaded the track to his Stem Player, without permission for the sample. Reportedly, Ye and his business partner Alex Klein sold over 10 thousand players within 24 hours of its release profiting over 2.2 million dollars. The company that initiated the suit says that Ye's team reached out to clear the sample in question, but the sides never came to an agreement.

The suit alleges that Kanye and his team still advertised "Life of The Party" to promote "Donda" and the Stem Player. The company seeks to block the further usage of the song and is demanding any profits generated from its usage. The song was originally leaked by Drake ahead of their reunion at J Prince's "Free Larry Hoover" concert.

"South Bronx" is Boogie Down Productions' 1986 single which started the infamous "Bridge Wars" which involved BDP and various members of the Juice Crew and other artists from Queens and The Bronx.
