Mogul and recording artist Jay-Z has teamed up with philanthropist and former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey to launch a free Bitcoin Academy in Jay-Z's hometown of Brooklyn. The "99 Problems" MC announced today (6/9) that he and the Block CEO will open the Bitcoin Academy to teach financial literacy. The academy will offer online and in person classes beginning later this month which include "What Is Bitcoin?" and "What Is Blockchain?" The program is available to anyone in Marcy Houses, the Bedford Stuyvesant housing project where Jay-Z grew up. In addition to mobile hotspots and Bitcoin for hands on learning, the program will include a "Crypto Kids Camp."

Dorsey's company Block and Jay Z's Shawn Carter Foundation will help with hands on instruction, and the academy will provide dinner for the classes which will take place two evenings per week. Dorsey and Jay-Z, birth name Shawn Carter have joined forces previously when Dorsey's company was known as Square and Dorsey acquired Jay's Z's Tidal music streaming service which will reportedly become a vehicle for distributing NFT's.
