Set It Off and Girls Trip alums Jada Pinkett Smith and Queen Latifah will reunite in an upcoming episode of Latifah's hit CBS series The Equalizer. Jada will star as Jessi Cook, a devious and unpredictable thief with a photographic memory who was recruited by the CIA for her skill set. Jessi and Latifah’s character Robin Mc Call once worked on a mission together and they get along like oil and water.
This casting marks the third time that Latifah and Smith have either acted together or collaborated in film, the first being Set It Off (1996) then Girls Trip (2017) and Latifah starred in the Will and Jada Pinkett Smith executive produced The Secret Life of Bees (2008).
Latifah and Smith are set to work together again in the near future according to producer Will Packer who recently announced on Good Morning America that Girls Trip 2 is underway. “We are absolutely in the stages and the ladies are in, I just talked to the director” said Packer. Jada Pinkett Smith also recently reprised her role as Niobe in The Matrix Resurrections after appearing in the second and third installments of the franchise The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions. Her television credits include NBC’s A Different World, TNT’s Hawthorne and Fox’s Gotham. She recently signed on to star in Netflix’s Redd Zone.
The Equalizer airs Sundays 8:30-9:30 PM, ET/8:00-9:00 PM, PT on CBS
