It has been announced that rising Louisville, Kentucky, rap star, Jack Harlow, will star in the upcoming remake of the classic 1992 sports comedy film, White Men Can’t Jump.

Filmmaker and music video director, Calmatic, who is also connected to the upcoming House Party remake, will direct a script written by Black-ish creator Kenya Barris, and Doug Hall. Barris and his Khalabo Ink Society banner are producing. Blake Griffin, Ryan Kalil, and Noah Weinstein are credited as executive producers for the film through their Mortal Media banner. Hall and E. Brian Dobbins will also exec produce.

White Men Can’t Jump is a modern take on Ron Shelton’s 1992 original film, which starred Woody Harrelson, Wesley Snipes, and Rosie Perez. The film follows two street basketball hustlers who at first try to hustle each other, then team up for a bigger score.

Harlow will take on Harrelson’s role, and the circumstances behind his landing the starring role are impressive, to say the least. He got the lead after his first-ever screen audition, immediately winning over the filmmakers and execs, especially Kenya Barris. Appropriately, Harlow has some hoop game, too, as made evident by his play during the recent NBA All-Star Weekend’s Celebrity Game. The filmmakers now are looking to set his co-star as the movie is on a fast track.

Harlow recently scored a big hit with his latest single,  “Nail Tech,” which debuted at No. 18 on the Billboard Hot 100. The emcee spits an impressive verse on Kanye West’s most recent album, Donda 2, as he performed it live at his recent, “Donda Live Experience.”
