During the interview, Ice Cube and E-40 remembered the huge impact LL had on them when they were young.
"When I first heard you, I was laying down in my bed listening to KDAY late at night. Greg Mack was like 'Yo we got this new song out on Def Jam,'" Cube recalled, referencing LL's classic track "I Need A Beat." "I rose up in my bed like, 'This is what I've been waiting for all day.' Hip-Hop was so rare back then."
Cube went on to describe how LL influenced a generation. "You'd hear a song and you might not catch that song on the radio again for another two days," he remembered. "I was just happy that I caught it, and I knew it was dope. Then I was just on a search for you, like 'What is this dude doing? Where can I see him? Where can I buy a record?' Then we turned 15, and bought your whole album Radio, and it was so refreshing and inspiring because you were our age showing that. You was LeBron before LeBron, in the rap game showing that a youngster can be a megastar and not have to wait until they're 20."
