It appears that rapper, actor and entrepreneur Ice Cube fell victim to online fakery. Cube seems to have briefly believed a false social media posting that stated that HBO Max is working on a Friday prequel with comedian Druski and rapper Vince Staples in lead roles, according to Complex.
Ice Cube tweeted in response: “This is blasphemy."
The Twitter account that made the original post later posted: “Twitter is all about lying, joking and spreading misinformation.”
Ice Cube’s son O’Shea Jackson apparently fell for a similar false announcement earlier this year. In a post from the same account, it was claimed that 50 Cent and Starz were producing a Boyz In The Hood remake with Michael B. Jordan, Winston Duke and Jamal Woolard.
According to to a 2021 statement from The Wall Street Journal, there were plans for a fourth Friday movie but there were script issues that caused disputes between Ice Cube and Warner Brother that stalled the process.
