Ghostface Killah Says Nas's "Rewind" is the Greatest Storytelling Rap Song of All Time

Wu-Tang Clan’s Ghostface Killah sat down with Brian “B.Dot” Miller for an episode of Complex Brackets where the emcee broke down his pick for the best storytelling rap song of all time.

In the tournament-style face-off of iconic rap singles, Ghostface was asked to choose the greatest storytelling hip-hop track ever, having to choose from timeless tracks including Eminem’s “Stan,” Tupac’s “Brenda’s Got a Baby,” Kendrick Lamar’s “Sherane” and many more lyrically cinematic masterpieces.

Facing off for the final spot, we had Wu-Tang Clan’s “Impossible,” where Ghostface spit his iconic graphically descriptive story about street violence and murder, and Nas’s 2001 track “Rewind,” where the Queens emcee tells the story of a robbery in reverse.

Ghost’s verse on “Impossible” is held at a high regard from Ghost and the Wu-Tang camp, RZA even calling it “the greatest Wu-Tang verse of all time." However, the song was apparently had no chance against Nas’s “Rewind,” as Ghost says expressed his appreciation for the skill and concept of Nas’s record.

"I gotta go 'Rewind," Ghost admits. "The skill on this record right here and the thought he put it into that... I gotta go 'Rewind.'"

Who do you think has the greatest storytelling hip-hop song of all time?
