Omicron cases in New York City and Los Angeles have skyrocketed in the last few weeks, and the pandemic is still taking a toll on the African-American community. According to an Instagram post from Los Angeles music executive Wack 100, the legendary DJ Kay Slay is currently fighting for his life against the brutal virus

On Wednesday (January 5), the longtime music manager shared a photo of the 55-yeard old New York City legend and suggested Kay Slay was losing his battle with COVID-19.

“Pray for my brotha @djkayslay,” he wrote in the caption. “It’s not looking good. He might be mad at me for this, those that know Slay, but he needs all the support he can get … Been 14 days fighting Covid, and he’s just be put on a ventilator. Keep him in your prayers, please.”

Like the rest of the world, the Hip Hop community has been hit hard by the pandemic. Fred The Godson lost his life to COVID-19 in April 2020, legendary New Orleans DJ Black-N-Mild succumbed to the virus in March 2020 and Boo-Yaa T.R.I.B.E. legend Ganxsta Ridd died from complications in December 2020.

Our prayers go out to DJ Kay Slay and his family and loved ones. Stay tuned for more hip-hop news.
