“Death Row will be an NFT label” said Snoop Dogg in a chat on Clubhouse earlier this week (2/14). “We will be putting out artists through the metaverse. Just like we broke the industry when we was the first independent to be major, I want to be the first major in the metaverse”, Snoop continued. NFT’s and new technologies are nothing new to Snoop, as he partnered with block chain gaming company Gala Games for B.O.D.R (Bacc on Death Row) his full-length album released last week. The Gala Music version of the album features one of the 17 songs as an NFT and it sells for $5000 with 3 exclusive bonus tracks included. In a press release regarding the project Snoop proclaimed, “If anything is constant, it’s that the music industry will always be changing.”

In what was a busy week for Snoop, he also acquired the Death Row brand from MNRK music group, who purchased it from the Hasbro company in 2019 for $4 billion. In response to the acquisition Snoop said “I am thrilled and appreciative of the opportunity to acquire the iconic and culturally significant Death Row Records brand, which has immense untapped future value. It feels good to have ownership of the label I was part of at the beginning of my career and as one of the founding members.” Fans are eager to hear new music from the iconic Death Row brand.
