Run-DMC was Profile's most popular and profitable act, and their wildly popular "Christmas In Hollis" was included on Christmas Rap as well as A Very Special Christmas which included songs by Whitney Houston, Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen, U2 and Madonna. According to Def Jam Records head of PR Bill Adler, he suggested that the group talk about their hometown of Hollis, Queens and sample Clarence Carter's "Back Door Santa".
"Christmas In Hollis" has appeared in Die Hard, Orange Is The New Black, The Simpsons, The Office and several other places in popular culture. "Christmas In Hollis" has become one of rap music's most popular holiday songs, rivaling 1979's Christmas Rappin' by Kurtis Blow, which is rap's very first holiday song.
