Kendrick Lamar's long-awaited fifth studio album, Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers, is the talk of the music industry. His first release in five years since his critically acclaimed 2017 album, DAMN, the album boasts an A-list cast of beatmakers on the production credits, including Lamar himself (credited as OKLAMA), Pharrell Williams, Bo1-da, Cardo, DJ Dahi, and more.

The Alchemist earns his second Kendrick Lamar production credit since his work on DAMN’s “Fear,” this time on the heartwrenching standout track “We Cry Together,” crafting the instrumental loop that works as the backdrop for Lamar’s 5-minute audio drama.

The California beatmaker expressed his appreciation for Lamar, first working with him shortly after the passing of his father, saying the collaboration, “brought him back to life,” during a period of artistic strife.

“Around the time DAMN drooped, my pops passed, and having a beat on it was one of the only good things that happened during that time that brought me back to life,” Al shared to Instagram. “I remember thanking Dot & telling him that he helped me in more ways than he could imagine.”

“This time, I remember the day he pulled up to the studio and left with his beat. Not gonna lie, every night I said a small prayer that this record would still make the album. Happy it made the cut. Its an honor to contribute to anything Dot does. Very rare to encounter/work with someone that is focused. Salute to all the incredible musicians that worked on this album also. Thanks @brockymarciano, Dave Free, @mixedbyali & Anthony Saleh and congrats on another moment, This one is for my dad.”
