Exclusive photos of 2Pac from 1992 will soon be auctioned as NFTs.
The never-before-seen photo collection, called “2Pacalypse92,” is from Prince’s Glam Slam West nightclub in Minneapolis. The collection, shot by Lawrence "Loupy D" Dotson, includes 17 photos. Each NFT will also come with its own original negative.
Loupy D remembered what the experience was like, being on the scene to witness Pac in the early 90s. “The atmosphere was hyped,” he said of the performance.“The crowd was loving it. He put on a show. He wasn’t just a rapper, he was a performer. He had a theater background. Tupac knew he had to engage the crowd.”
Some of the photos will also appear in Allen Hughes' upcoming five-part docuseries, Dear Mama, premiering on FX in April. The series will be “told through the eyes of the people who knew them best,” according to FX. “An intimate wide-angle portrait of the most inspiring and dangerous mother-son duo in American history, whose unified message of freedom, equality, persecution and justice are more relevant today than ever.”
As for the NFTs, they'll be auctioned off by MakersPlace beginning today (Feb. 23), at 3 p.m. EST.
