The Notorious B.I.G. Estate Releases "G.O.A.T.", New Single With Ty Dolla $ign

The Notorious B.I.G. would have been 50 years old on Saturday (May 21), and as part the celebration of this milestone his estate has released his first new song in 17 years, titled "G.O.A.T." The Afrobeat-inspired song features Ty Dolla $ign and Nigerian singer Bella Alubo.

"Being on a song with Biggie has been a dream of mine since I was a kid," the singer-songwriter said via statement. "The song title is fitting of him, the GOAT. Happy Birthday BIG. We miss you!" Biggie's mother Voletta Wallace also commented on the release.

"It's wonderful to witness my son's music reimagined for his fans and today's generation of young men and women to embrace his art," she shared. "I appreciate the hard work of all involved in bringing together the perfect blend of voices and music to this song."

Elliot Osagie, who is founder of Benin City Entertainment and the songs co-creator has worked with the Notorious B.I.G's estate for almost a decade, and he adds: ""One of the things that I've learned building Biggie's audience all these years is his global impact. We wanted to create a song that paid homage to that impact, hence the Afrobeats theme."

Biggie's 50th birthday celebration will also include Biggie themed limited edition metrocards available in vending machines at four Brooklyn subway stations. "Together with Biggie's estate, we will have a life-size holographic avatar of B.I.G. on the 80th floor, available for guest viewing and photographs from 4PM-9PM," the Empire State Building tweeted on Thursday (May 20).

Additionally, Brooklyn's Barclays Center will display a video montage of Biggie at the entrance to the arena, as well as his image being displayed at various Brooklyn subway stations. Biggie protege Lil Kim will host a black-tie Biggie dinner Gala on Friday (May 20) with invited performers Fabolous, Fat Joe, Jadakiss, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, French Montana, Beanie Sigel, Freeway and others.
